“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Spring Break debauchery would fix Cuba in 10 years

I've been saying this for years.....

From AZCentral.com -- U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake last week drew an angry response from a colleague after he joked about allowing rowdy college students to descend on Cuba.

Flake, R-Ariz., is a free-trade advocate who has long pushed to allow Americans to travel freely to Cuba, a privilege that they haven’t enjoyed since President John F. Kennedy’s administration because of punitive U.S. economic policies aimed at toppling Fidel Castro.

In fact", said Flake, "I’ve often felt that if we want a real get-tough policy with the Castro brothers, we should force them to deal with spring break once or twice."

Throw open the doors of Cuba to US tourists, especially the Spring Break kids, and watch how fast Cuba becomes the primary destination of vacationing Americans. Hotel resorts would sprout up on the beaches by the dozens and the backward Cuban government would be flush with American dollars and wouldn't dare risk losing that. Who cares if they are technically communists? Look at every big city in China.....you can't swing a dead cat and not hit a millionaire, and they're communists.

Free-market solutions will always work to delegitimize politically unfavorable governments if allowed to.

You mean we can't travel to Cuba? I thought we just couldn't buy their cigars. By the way, I can travel 6000 miles east to the Country of Georgia and buy Cubans but I can't buy them in my home state. I don't think the Kennedy "get tough" policy is working.

Right you are David, I think Americans still have to get special permission to travel to Cuba. While the limitations are not that strict, if we threw the doors open to unlimited travel, raw capitalism would take care of the rest in short order.

Is it legal when you to transport your Cubans back into the US after you buy them in Georgia? Heh heh. ;-)
